The following illustrates how an effective local work among men can grow when you pursue a God given vision.
Nearly four years ago, Mark Lyndon-Jones started meeting with four other men in a local Cardiff restaurant every Monday evening talking about life and looking at the Bible to see what it had to say about the issues we face as men in everyday life. ‘We had no idea that our small group would evolve into what has become known as the Band of Brothers, which has now seen over two hundred men from all walks of life come through on Monday evenings.’ Today Band of Brothers is fully integrated as the men’s ministry of Cardiff City Temple (Elim) and has a programme running throughout the year that includes monthly larger gatherings at Cardiff Arms Park and smaller social Breakout Groups. It has seen a number of men come to faith in Christ and for many men provides the sort of environment they need where real men can discuss real issues in a real way. Social events include curry nights, men’s breakfasts, golf days and weekends away with the goal to develop relationship over religion as a contemporary basis for discipling men. Mark says, “In a frantic world where men can be isolated by pressure from all sides, we’re on a mission to encourage spiritual entrepreneurship in the church and the marketplace, equipping and empowering men to be all that God has called them to be. Our goal is to effectively reach men in and outside the church walls.” For more information visit http://www.bandofbrothersonline.com/
